Not what would normally be considered nerdcore, but topical today.
“Superhero Swag” — Alpha Riff

Alpha Riff is one of the newer voices in nerdcore, and this has been a big year for him. Albums like From Beta to Alpha Riff and No Rest for the Nerdy have established his credentials, and tunes like “Black Holes Just Mean I Love You in Space Jargon” move into the realm of fun sci-fi storytelling.
Nerf Herder’s “Mr. Spock”
Is there anything geekier than a band with a Star Wars allusion name singing a Star Trek song? Even if you’ve never heard of Nerf Herder before, you’re familiar with their work; they did the opening theme for Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
So, yeah, you need to know Nerf Herder.
Hey There, Ophelia — MC Lars
MC Lars has been on the nerdcore scene for some years, and given how often he turns to literary topics, he’s a great favorite of Professor Awesome. Though he’s probably better known for songs like “This Gigantic Robot Kills” and “Lars Attacks,” you might want to check out some of his Poe-inspired work, like “Annabelle Lee, RIP,” “Flow Like Poe,” and “Mr. Raven.”
Adam WarRock’s “B.S.F.X.”
Adam WarRock left being an attorney for the nerdcore music scene years ago. Check him out.
Rap Nerdy to Me
We’re starting a new feature here at Professor Awesome’s University, Nerdcore Fridays! To help ease you into the weekend, every Friday we’ll be posting new nerdcore audio or video.
For our maiden voyage, we have a really short (less than 5 minutes) documentary about nerdcore for those unfamiliar with it.
Also, the feature image on this post was viciously and immorally stolen from Level Up Video Games. If any minions want to produce a Nerdcore Friday cover image, that would be awesome.
